Clearly Calm

Looks like "Sid" of Clearly Calm (on my blog roll) who blogs from Wormwood Scrubs prison has been found out and banned from continuing his blog.

Shame. It was a truly unique blog. So much for intellectual progress on the Internet.

Still trying to work out if that one's genuine! How cynical am I? :-)

I considered that right in the beginning, that Clearly Calm might have been a Writer's Fiction, but have decided it is not. It is not lively enough to be fictitious, nor has it any plot events. It could be a bored prison employee testing their Writing Workshop skills, though....

But nonetheless, it comes across as genuine to me, because it has the backdrop of the monotony of prison life, and the shocked mental shift into a routine and pattern of lost freedoms.

Did you ever see my 6th May post on Clearly Calm?

Yeah, it's all very thought-provoking and angst-inducing stuff. One person's "crime" is another person's "procedure" - that's what gets me most about our society in fact, it's all so much double standards and contradiction. A hapless banker gets 9 years while a child molester gets 5 and a free house and new identity when he gets out. I'm more and more convinced that the way to sort out society is to allow justice to be dished out by the victims. If the bank wants to crucify its errant bankers, fine. If the family of a murdered child wants to slowly drive a steam roller over the killer, fine. I bet a system like that would make handbag thieves and taggers think twice. Of course there's always the problem of misidentification, accidental or deliberate. Haven't worked that one out yet :-)
